Life at MIB banner

At MIB our people are passionate about making roads safer

We are a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1946 on the belief that no-one whose life had been changed by an uninsured driver should be left without the support they deserve.

Today that has grown into a community of people and organisations tirelessly working to protect people from the devastation of uninsured and hit-and-run driving. We do it by compensating victims quickly, fairly and compassionately, and getting uninsured and hit-and-run drivers off our roads until it becomes a thing of the past.

Our work and impact stretch further too. We manage services for the insurance industry and government to help keep costs down for UK motorists, and we manage the Insurance Fraud Bureau, which brings together insurers, partners and law-enforcement agencies in the fight against fraud.

We make a real impact in people’s lives. Will you help us take that to the next level?

Our work in numbers

Every twenty minutes, someone in the UK is the victim of an uninsured or hit-and-run driver.

Every week, at least one person is killed by an uninsured driver.

In 2024 we paid over £400 million in compensation to support victims.

Since 2005, our work has helped remove over 2.5 million uninsured vehicles from our roads.

Sundeep's story

Agile working

Our people have the freedom to work in a way that balances what’s best for them and for MIB. Most of our people work a combination of at home and in our offices in Milton Keynes and London. What this looks like depends on each individual, their team and the role they do. We’ve built our agile approach on these five principles:

Mutual flexibility
MIB will make sure we provide as much flexibility as possible, and you should also be flexible to attend meetings, events and customer demands.

Balance
Wherever possible, we want to enable you to balance your home and work life and remain productive.

Customer first
Our customers’ needs are primary and we need to make sure we are all able to compensate them quickly, fairly and compassionately.

Ownership
Each business area will identify and agree their own local guidance for how often people need to be in the office.

Adaptability
If your needs change, we will try to adapt, especially where you give us plenty of notice. And if MIB’s needs change, we’ll do the same, giving you notice and consulting with you if necessary.
